So, this is how our weekend at home went...
We spent Friday hanging around, doing a lot of nothing. :] We went shopping, and just enjoyed being together. Friday evening I went to dinner with all of my aunts and girl cousins that could be there, for a different kind of bridal shower. We went to Archibalds at Gardner Village. It was really fun! We all love going there for....
fried green tomatoes!!! They were so delicious. (Sorry the picture is giant. But, it is a metaphorical representation of their deliciousness.) I also got my very own magic Santa key and a new Nativity scene for my collection. That brings the count up to 13. :] It was really fun and I really enjoyed being there. Troy's mom came along too and that was nice. :] Hopefully we didn't overwhelm her. Saturday was a crazy day! We went to Troy's great friend's wedding. It was all the way in Manti so we woke up bright and early (8:00 being early mind you) and headed out into the snow. Luckily the roads were not bad, and we made it there on time in one piece. It was so fun getting to see them! It made us both so excited, and ever since then we have just been dying to have our turn. I'm jealous that Troy got to watch the actual sealing, but in due time. :] I'm so excited! It's coming so quickly. After the wedding we went to a splendid luncheon, complete with the greatest piece of chicken I probably could have ever consumed. And, I can't even tell you what was on it, because we are not entirely sure! But it was good. Hats off to the Manti House. Paula Dean is certifiably crazy. In my recent obsession/addiction to the Food Network I have a really hard time changing the channel. And Paula my dear friends, is insane. I just wish I could try her food, to see if the crazy is worth it. I do want her red pan set at Wal-Mart however. So, I guess dear Paula is good for something.
After the wedding we went to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's Christmas concert. Troy's parents had extra tickets, and knowing the history behind the show, offered them to us. (This is the part of the weekend where we re-enact our first date....sort of.) We got there early and walked around Temple Square. It was really pretty, even though we didn't spend too much time looking at the lights, we just walked through. (This is in accordance with Dec. 12, 2009's activities.) We headed over to the Conference Center, and jumped into the massive line of people. The line went clear up one side of the CC and around the corner! Luckily it moved very quickly, but it was quite the hike in my high heels. (Keep these shoes in mind for later...) We met up with his parents, and they graciously gave us the really good tickets, down where all the General Authorities sit. It was so neat! We were very close to the front, and were able to see thing neither of us had before. Thanks Craig and Becky! David A. did a great job, and I really enjoyed the show. After, we decided to go to dinner. BACK-STORY: We parked right by Little America. Hopped on Trax, and rode to Temple Square. We were planning on going to dinner at Tucci's, which was in Trolley Square. (We went to Macaroni Grill last year, but neither of us wanted to. We really should have.) Anyway, so after the show we headed out to Trax, to ride to the car. However, we had not fully researched the path we needed to take. Troy knew that Tucci's was in Trolley Square. And we knew there was a separate Trax train that would take us to Trolley Square. The dilemma we had was whether we were going to drive or ride to the restaurant. Before we could decide, we needed to get to the station. Troy, bless his heart, led us the long way. He was right in where he was going, it just was the really long way around. We finally realized how far out of the way we walked, and I opted to just go to the car. We had already walked more than half way, and I figured I could make the rest of the way. However we decided to go to the station instead. We had just missed the one that would take us to our car, so we made a quick decision to take the train to Trolley Square. Pretty sketchy decision on our part, since at this point my feet (recall the shoes...) were screaming at me now. We got off the train, and much to our despair, realized the restaurant was about 3 blocks from where we were standing. I was done. So, we got back on the trains, switched a whole bunch of times. Shed some tears outside the ten o'clock news (I was doing this) and ended up back at our car. I was exhausted and starving. Troy felt bad, and was as equally hungry. All in all, we ended up at Crown Burger, five minutes to close, and enjoyed greasy hamburgers in the car.
Regardless of the obstacles we faced, I saw some great parts of SLC I had never before (as well as some sketchy) and spent the night with Troy. Happy date re-enactment. :]
Note: Don't let our story prohibit you from re-enacting dates you have had. I'm hoping this was just our bad luck affecting our plans as it often does.
