Sept 29 2010

We had a busy weekend!

I had no time to post. :/ Sorry.
So this weekend we went home to see Troy's sister who was visiting from Colorado who I had not yet met. We all just hung around Friday night and chatted. It was pretty fun. :] Staci is super pregnant, she is due on my birthday! So that is fun. :] The first girl of the family.
Sidenote: we have have been watching Lost. I'm sitting by myself in the Hub, and I just saw a tall bald man walked by. I thought it was John Lock. No big deal. I can't stop thinking about Lost.
Anyway, Saturday morning I had a dress fitting so me and my mom went to that. That went well. It's going to be all done in a couple of weeks. Yay. :] We spent the rest of the day at a park with Troy's family and ate a picnic lunch and just played outside. It was fun to just relax and do nothing. Saturday was also homecoming for my sisters, so I spent a couple hours waiting around for them and then helping them get all ready. It was really fun. I did Courtney's hair and I must say, it looked really good. :] They all looked adorable and their dates were quite studly. They had a good time too, so that is important.
Westlake won their game, so now they are 6-0! That is really cool. I'm excited for them. I cheer for them now, since Lehi had to go and be all lame on me. (Not for football, just in general.) I'm disappointed in Westlake's student council though. But oh well. Courtney has a blast being the manager, and she has the opportunity to letter this year and the next! Pretty cool. They are going to be playing Timpview this Friday, and I'm super excited to see how that goes. I hope they beat them. That would be just awesome. We have to stay up here in Logan, because BYU is coming to play. :]
School is still going on just like always. We are starting to get the hang of it now, and are having a little more fun. I fixed my work schedule so it's not quite so bad. These are my favorite things about my job:
1-When a small child answers the phone, and says something hilarious. That gets me through at least an hour.
2- How people believe that messing with the people that call them is the best thing ever. Look, that joke did not just make my day. You did not make me laugh. And you still have to complete the survey.
3- The people that rant on and on about not having the time to take the survey, blah blah blah on and on for 8 minutes about not taking a 3 minute survey. Thank you for wasting 5 minutes of your time.
We cook our own meals now, and we are doing a really good job at it. We planned a legit menu and everything. I'm proud of us. :] We can totally handle being married and living together.
Pretty exciting, this summer we might go work up at Bear Lake with Troy's dad. He runs the Scout Camp up there, and we would just camp out all summer and help out. I'm actually excited about it, and think that it is a really good idea. Even if I do have to live in a tent for 3 months. No big deal. :] Free rent, and free food. That will be a big help!
I'm taking a Family Finance class and I absolutely LOVE it. I'm making Troy take it next semester. I hope that I actually take what I am learning and apply it to us, so that we can feel good in 15 years, and not be stressed out financially. We will see. :] I suggest everyone read Automatic Millionaire however, and any other books by David Bach. He will make you rich. Really.

Sept 22 2010

Oh man!

Nothing has happened really, I just felt I should be getting everyone's hopes up for something exciting. :] We don't really do anything, which is a problem! We need pictures for our wedding slideshow, and pictures of us sitting around doing boring things like watching Lost, homework, or working are not going to make for an interesting photo montage!
Anyway, this week has been dragging on. I hate weeks like this. We missed a couple of classes, my bad, had a couple of tests, and worked a bunch of hours. Well, I did. :] But good news, Troy got called from Golden Corral today, so hopefully they will hire him! Then he can work with the lovely April! It sucks, because I feel like we haven't really seen anyone in forever. I hardly even see Parker anymore. :/ It's super lame. But we want to try to plan a get-a-way for the roommates, because we hardly know them. So I'm working on getting that whole thing planned out. Cross your fingers it works out. I am less stress about our financial situation, for the time being. We will see how long that lasts.
I'm excited for this weekend, we get to hang out with Troy's sister. It's funny how much I still want to go home even with Troy up here. Home is just so much less stressful. I love it.
Sleeping at my new apartment (even though it's not really new anymore....) I have realized that now I cannot sleep without the ridiculous animal noises that go on in the "woods" behind mine and Parker's windows. We have the back rooms, and behind the building there are like 7 or 8 trees, but it looks like the woods, because you can't see anything else. Plus, they are infested with all sorts of obnoxious creatures. No joke. There is a squirrel that crawls along the power lines, that I swear crawls over and sits next to my window at seven every morning and makes the most obnoxious high-pitched squeaky noise. But every night you can hear all the crickets, and in the morning different birds and things. It's like my own relaxation sound machine. I am learning to like it. :]
We are still obsessed with Lost. We probably watch 3 episodes every day. We love it. I know, so against everything I wanted to be, but hey, don't judge.
Me and Troy also started a new thing. I thought of this, and am still weary of if it is a good idea or not. Yesterday (Sept. 22) was our 100th day to our wedding. So I created something I called "The 100 Books." We have 100 different questions/stories that we put in a little jar, and every day for the next 100 we will pull one out and write down an answer. Yesterday was our fist day and Troy seems to like it so we will see. Hopefully it has the same in the future value I want it to have. Something kind of cool for us to look back on and see. :]

Sept 20 2010

This weekend I did something pretty cool.

I bought a dress! We went home late Friday night after Parker got off work. We hung out at my house for a while, looked at our engagements and got a whole bunch of wedding stuff figured. Kind of. Ha. Saturday morning we woke up early and headed out to look at bridal shops. Everyone went, my mom, sisters, Parker and Melissa. We started in a little shop in Provo, Sweethearts. It was really cute! I tried on about seven or eight dresses, but was really in love with the first one I tried on. We had an appointment at David's, so we went over there to check out what they had. And weren't we glad. It was kind of like a wanna-be Kleinfeld's, but it was still pretty cool. I walked around and picked out a ton of dresses I thought I might like to try on. I tried on about six here, and then I found it. I love it! It is really pretty, and only the sleeves need to be altered (because it is sleeveless. :/ ) But they will figure that out, and I will be modest. Phew. :] We also managed to find the perfect bridesmaids dresses too, and the girls love them and they go really well with my dress. So we got quite a bit done, I was proud of us!
Later that night we all went to dinner. The Page family and then the Butterfield's. We went to Texas Roadhouse, and it was really fun! The food was good, and it was good to get both families all together finally. Woo! Sunday was pretty low-key, we ate dinner with my family, and then played in the yard. From our front yard we could see two fires, one to the North, and one to the South. We never found out much about the Southern one, but the Northern one worked up quite the reputation. Over in Herriman, a fire had started due to a military practice by Camp Williams. It was really windy, so the fire started quickly and spread even quicker. There were houses burned, and thousands were evacuated. It is really sad, and is still burning. Apparently it was pretty close to Grandma and Grandpa Yager's house, so we will see how it turns out. Hopefully there will not be any more damage to homes. It got us on the Today Show.
Today was Monday and that isn't very fun. But me and Troy got a lot done. We knocked out a bunch of homework, and I have been studying for my first test. We both are liking our classes, and it is good we are not too overwhelmed. I still have my job (Ha) and am still doing great. I won a hat today for getting the first 30 completes. Woo. I don't know what I'm going to do with all these random prizes, I think they should just be giving me money! :]
Right now we are making brownies for Troy's roommates, because last night, they had a little epidemic. They had bought a box of brownies, and turned the oven on. When we got home, we could smell the burn. They believed it was just the oven at first, and once they "fixed" the problem, they popped their pan in. However, about fifteen minutes later when the smell was only getting worse, Quin, went over to check on his precious chocolate desert. Burned. Scorched. Fried. The entire top inch of the pan was completely charred, while the bottom was still not quite cooked. The top coil of the oven was the only one on, and no one could figure out the problem.
About thirty minutes ago, I fixed the problem.
The knob that turned the temperature and such, was a little lose. So when you turned it, to what you thought was 325, it was actually not turning the entire knob, but just the pretty plastic labely part. So, it was on broil. Quin officially broiled his brownies. :]
But now, in an apartment of all boys, who all tried to fix the oven, a girl has emerged. Tightened the knob, and cured the "mysterious" oven problem. That's right, the girl. :]

Sept 15 2010

ONE WHOLE YEAR!

This is my one year post. Exactly one year ago, I started this lovely little thing. And look how different my life is now. Amazing.
This week has not been good, hence, the lack of blog posts.
After my stomach episode of Saturday, I woke up late and almost missed Church but I went. I'm glad I did too, it was really good. There was a little bit of an interesting talk in Sacrament, but overall I'm glad I made it. Even if I didn't have time to shower before hand. :]
Monday, I woke up with an awesome cold. No voice, and oh yeah, I had to work. How might I ask, do you call people all night long and talk to them, with no voice? This was what I asked myself. However, when I called in sick, they said they were desperate for my hours so I had to go in. Luckily I made it through the night, even though the Halls I was sucking gave me a sort of southern-Australian-Deaf accent on the phone. Maybe that is why I got so many surveys. They were trying to figure out where I was from.
I have also jumped on a forbidden bandwagon. I have begun watching Lost. Logan bought all the seasons in this super-nerdy/obsessed set, (no joke, you need to see this thing. It's rivals that of Twilight paraphernalia.) and we have begun watching. I actually like it a lot. We watch two episodes almost every night, so that is fun. It's not confusing yet, so I'm a fan. We will wait to see if I still feel this way.
Oh yeah, we watch Lost on our new GIANT TV .
We felt, that with our bed, we needed some quality entertainment. So, we bought a 55 inch screen TV. No big deal. We won't be able to eat, or have couches, but hey, we have a bed and a TV. Necessities right? :] No, it was only 150, which is a screaming deal, so we jumped on it. It's really nice now, and my justification is that now we don't have to spend the money on an Entertainment center. :]
I didn't do much on Tuesday, worked again, sick again, school again. I like to remember back to the days when me and Troy had fun hanging out. We miss those days. :/
Wednesday, also, the same thing. Super boring. But then something cool happened! We got our engagement pictures back! Well, technically, my house got them because they are at home. But still, in our possession. Almost. They almost were not though.
I asked my parents to try to email us some, so we could at least see some of them. About fifteen minutes later, my mother calls me and asks for Amy's phone number. This, is never a good sign. And it wasn't. Somehow, when they put the disc in our computer to send them to us, the entire disc was reformatted and the pictures were gone. Erased, forever. This is a bump in the road, because those are kind of important. So they had to run to Amy's and get another CD, and now all is good. We will get them all figured out, and then post some of Facebook and things. There are two up, as our profiles right now. So if you just can't wait, then there you go.
Although being sick has not been very fun, there are some positives. A, Troy went and bought me some medicine. B, that medicine makes me sleep soo good. C, I therefore gets lots of good sleep, and sometimes miss a class. :/ But hey, this is college. Your'e supposed to do that right?

Sept 12 2010

So I have missed a couple of days.

But oh well.
This weekend I did quite a few things, and so did Troy. Kind of.
He got fired. Ha. So, now I am the sole breadwinner. It was nothing he did wrong, he just mentioned the company in his blog, and that is a big no no, so he was terminated.
That's okay though. So I had to work all by myself, and that is lame now. I worked a long shift on Friday and then a longer one on Saturday. Friday night we went to dinner at Aggy's, the spin-off of Iggy's in town because I have to write a review on it for the Statesman. It was really fun, Tori and her new boy Matt came and that went good. Parker and Kris were there, and Logan and a date, and Logan's friend. It was good, and the food was really good. I just have to write a review now. :/ Saturday Troy met up with his parents for lunch while I was at work. (Jealous!) But it worked out, because he was kind enough to leave me roses on my seat. :] You know when you fight with Troy, he will always make it better with something like that. It's the only positive of a disagreement. He's so good to me. Ha.
After all that we went to the game and tailgate! (Before the tailgate, I ate a sandwich at their house, and that will come into play later, just don't forget about it.) It was really fun and we kicked Idaho State's butt. I missed football and it was good to watch a game again. :]
After the game we decided Logan needed food so we went back to Troy's place. There, we decided to go to the dance/PoBev (this poetry thing, where you get free beverages. Logan was unhappy with it, so we ended up at the dance) Now, Troy hates that music. All the stuff that they play at those dances. So we only stayed for a little bit, but at least he braved it and went. I was happy with just that. :] (That was where the roses played into earlier.) Notice, I was fine this whole time. Until about twenty minutes later. We left the dance, walked to my house so I could change and then went and to go get Redbox. About halfway there, my stomach starts to hurt. Then when we arrive at Fresh Market, it really really hurts. So bad, I can't stand up. I'm thinking, wow, this is really painful. It continues to hurt and then I realize something. I'm going to throw up. I begin to freak out. I do not throw up. So, I choke it down. Yes, everyone, I forced my body to not throw up. In the course of getting those movies (Fresh Market didn't have what we wanted, so we had to go to Smith's) I probably could have thrown up five or six times. Disgusting. So then we went back to Troy's apartment and I was really dying. By this point I was crying and just very uncomfortable. We came back to my house and watched half of a movie, and then I went to bed. I still feel super ill, but the pain is not as bad.
That sandwich from earlier, the one I told you to remember?
Poisoned me.

Sept 8 2010

I realized a few things today.
I'm almost to an entire year mark of blog posts.
Almost to the 200th post. Wow.
And, tennis shoes are a really awesome invention.
It was raining today, so I put on tennis shoes to walk to school. Remember that big hill that kicks my butt? I kicked it's butt today. :] The tennis shoes on my feet worked miracles, and I was totally confident striding my way up the asphalt. I would like to think it is because I have become amazingly fit in the last week or so, but I think I must give credit to my feet and the joy they were feeling at being cushioned and comforted as they walked up the hill, instead of smacked around by the flip-flops I usually wear.
Another great thing, my story made it in the paper! We had some bumps along the way, but look at this:

It's my first every Professor profile! I interviewed my favorite teacher from last semester, you might remember, Dr. Austin. Me and Tori loved her class, so when I was assigned this, I jumped at the opportunity to interview her. It was much bigger than I thought it would be, so that is cool! I got a GREAT job from my editor, and she told me I was going to be a GREAT asset to the paper. Very excited. :] Hopefully it was not just beginners luck, and I actually have the skills to keep this going. Oh yeah. I get a press badge too. That was like number one reason I took the job. :] It will be like my Lehi sweater all over again, and I can use it however I want. :]
For my other job, I am also doing great things. I am like a professional survey caller. I was the first one to get thirty completes in my shift today. So, I won the cool item below. I finished the night with 60 completes in a 6 hour shift. Pretty impressive. I'm like, really good.

I'm always incredibly busy, but I'm really excited for this weekend. We are going to go eat at a new restaurant in Logan, Aggy's. I have to write a review on it, so a whole lot of us are going. Tori and her new boyfriend are even coming. It should be really good. Also, Saturday is the first home football game! Woo! :]

Sept 7 2010

We just got back from vacation!

We came home for Labor day and had a blast! Friday night we drove down late after I got off work, and hung out with Troy's family for a while. His brother Chad and his family came up for the weekend. Saturday we spent the day with them. We watched Troy get his butt kicked at P90X, played at the park with his nephews and the dogs, and then went to the Dinosaur Museum. It was really fun. :] It's weird to me, because now I'm a insta-aunt. But I'm really excited about it. The boys are super cute. I just need to meet Corbin, Troy's sister's boy. I haven't met them yet. :] Saturday night we took off towards St. George to hang out with my family down at the condo. We had a really good time, we went to Zion's National Park on Sunday and spent the day hiking. We went up to Weeping Rock, and then to the Narrows. It was really fun, we had never been before so we really enjoyed it. :] Monday we hung out at the condo, had a Wii tournament, and went swimming. It was really fun to just be able to hang out and not worry about things for a while. We drove back home late Monday night, and then headed back up to Logan this morning. It was a lot of driving! It was actually really fun though. Troy told me all about his Elementary years, and we got some really funny memories written down. :] It will be fun to have later. Today I bought a Fondue pot! We made a trip to D.I and they had a really cool one for $4! I'm excited to try it out, so stayed tuned for that post. :] It hopefully will be pretty cool. We're going to have to plan a party!

Sept 2 2010

Today was slightly more eventful.

I got another job! Haha, my meeting at the Statesman turned out to be my first meeting, not an interview or a practice. So that is pretty cool. I will get a Press Badge and everything, so I will be as legit as I can get. I'm pretty excited about that. Who else do you know that has a Press Badge? No one. Now, you all do. :] I have two stories already, a Professor Profile and a review of a new restaurant. I'm a little bit nervous about them, my first interview is tomorrow, so we will see how it goes!
We had our very first DESA meeting tonight as well, and all went good. I'm excited about DESA this year, because since we started the new ASL club, our part will be focusing more on the professionalism versus the skills and learning ASL. It will be a really good experience for all of us to get our contacts out there in the real world, and have our names already known when we are going to look for jobs. I'm very excited about that.
My Humanities teacher is weird. Our textbook for the class, no joke, is the Bible. It is a new modern translation of the book that influenced Western civilization. Basically, he tries to not interpret the Bible, and confuses the heck out of all of us in the class. It's going to be difficult to pass I think. I hope that it goes alright though. I really need to get all A's, especially since I'm taking such a small amount of credits! I'm still waiting to hear back from the FCHD department about switching majors, so stayed tuned for news from that.
I'm looking forward to this weekend, we are going to go home. Troy's brother is coming up from Vegas, so we are going to spend Saturday with them, and then go down to St. George for Sunday and Monday with my family. We are excited. School is harder than I remember, and I feel like I never stop doing things. Which is scary, because it is the first week! Ah!
I'm still trying to register for Institute, we are going to try to take another class from Bro. Maughn. I'm excited. :] Troy is taking two Institute classes, the one with me (Latter-day Saint History) as well as a Seminary Teacher prep-type class. It will hopefully be really good for him, and he can get a feel for what Seminary teaching will be like, and see if that is really what he wants to do. It's a good step. :] Things are going well for both of us, so hopefully it continues through the semester, and is not just a beginners luck type of thing. (Even if we aren't really beginners, and it is just the beginning. Oh well.)
Side note, I'm going to be incredibly skinny in a few months. I have to hike all the way to school, plus I feel like I have not stopped running around at all. And, I eat on the go, and it's usually pretty healthy stuff. Plus, here is the kicker, I still haven't had any soda, unlike another weaker individual we all know. :]

Sept 1 2010

Today was a pretty uneventful day.

It was A-Day on the Quad, so I had to head to Campus early, wander around like a fool for an hour, and then sit in the hot sun trying to recruit people to join ASL/DESA club. It was pretty great. Troy kept me company for a while, and brought me lunch. It was good. We got a lot of people to sign up, so hopefully we get a lot of new people coming to the activities. I went to class (even though I debated skipping, and it's only the second day?!?!) It was good. I sat on the VERY front row, so I could sit by Jon and James and see the interpreter. Next time however, I'm getting there earlier, so I can at least be on the second row. First row is way too eager. After that I went back to the Quad, sat in the sun, and then went to work. For 7 whole hours. It was incredibly terrible. I will never work that long again. There is a married couple that trained with me, and so far, the three of us have worked all the same shifts, so we kind of became buddies. It's nice. If Troy ever gets around to joining us, we can double with them every night! :] Only I could make that into something fun.
I also found out something really great! The one and only Tesha Balls works there too! I heard her voice and her name, and it was a great discovery! Yay Tesha! I don't feel quite as pathetic working there anymore, I kind of know what I am doing now. The greatest thing is, I got an interview at USU's Statesman, so now I might have two sources of income. Yay me. :] (If they pay good enough, I might just write and stop the phone calling. But I'm surprisingly good at it...) I also decided today that I was going to change my major. I'm switching to FCHD with a Deaf Ed emphasis. This means that I will get to be the parent-child advocate, for when people find out their children were born deaf. This is much better, because this is what I want to be doing anyway, and no more out of the state awkward twelve week deal! Yay. Plus, I will hopefully (cross your fingers I figured right,) graduate in Fall 2012. That is like so much closer than the other one. Again, yay.

Aug 31 2010

So today was pretty crazy. Tuesdays are pretty crowded. I go to school all day, like all my classes, and then I work from five to ten. But, two great things.

1, my Astronomy teacher is great news. He has an English accent and is super hilarious. Love it.
2, I like dominate this job that wasn't supposed to be that great. I was on the top three for a large majority of my shift. Go me. :]
Also, I got off like a half hour early, so I got to go meet up with my great friends at the movie they were showing on Old Main Hill. Oh yeah, I love college. :] That is really all I did.
